bubbles in water

For this activity, we will need a bowl or container, a straw and a sponge. Once all these objects have been gathered, we must perform the following actions:

  1. Fill the basin or container with water.
  2. Blow into the water using the straw and observe how small air bubbles will be created on the surface.
  3. Place a sponge in the bottom of the bowl or container and squeeze it with your hands, watching  as small air bubbles come out through its holes. You will then need to release the sponge so that it floats and releases large air bubbles.

A rainbow at home, one of the most interesting water activities

To do this activity, it  is necessary to have a basin or container, a mirror and a white cardboard. Then, the following process must be carried out:

  1. Fill the basin with water and place it in front of a window through which the sun’s rays enter.
  2. Place the mirror inside the basin, so that the part that will be in contact with the water is the one that will receive the sun’s rays.
  3. Place the white card in front of the mirror  and move it slowly until the rainbow colors are visible.
  4. Observe the rainbow that has been created.

But why does this happen? The fact that you can create a rainbow with these simple steps is explained by the fact that sunlight is made up of seven colors that separate through the procedure described above, thus forming the rainbow.

water xylophone

For this activity, the following materials are needed: six glass cups, six cans of paint of different colors and a piece of wood. The goal is to create a water xylophone,  and for that, you’ll need:

  1. Place the glass cups in a row, one next to the other.
  2. Fill the cups with different amounts of water and put a few drops of paint  in each so that they are all different colors.
  3. Take the piece of wood and carefully tap each of the glasses, thus producing different sounds.
  4. Now just create melodies with the different sounds of the glasses.

For this activity, you will need detergent, liquid glycerin, a straw, a glass or plastic container, a cloth and a flat surface (a table, for example). So, just follow these steps:

  1. Mix 600 ml of water, 200 ml of detergent and 100 g of liquid glycerin in a container.
  2. Moisten a cloth with the mixture prepared above  and pass it on a flat surface, such as a table, for example.
  3. Blow on the surface using the straw and observe how a soap bubble will form.
  4. Insert the straw into the bubble gently and blow again so that  a bubble forms inside the bubble that was made earlier. This process can be repeated several times, creating smaller bubbles within other bubbles. But you have to be very careful, as they can burst at any time.
