Encourage Children To Enjoy Reading. Like?

Stimulate children's reading pleasure. Like?

On several occasions we have already given advice to encourage your child to read. But it is not the same thing to do this out of obligation or for pleasure. That’s why, in this article, we’re going to provide advice for you to help your child not only read, but also love reading and enjoy reading this activity. We will help you to stimulate children’s reading pleasure.

Children don’t like formalities, so phrases like: “Reading will make you someone in life” will be useless, “Reading will increase your knowledge”. In order to be able to stimulate children’s reading pleasure, we must sensitize their hearts and imaginations. Would you like to know how?

How to stimulate children’s reading pleasure.

make your imagination soar

As we’ve always said, if you lead by example, your child is more likely to be interested in reading. Throughout my life I have seen reading parents who had reading children. If your child sees you reading often, it won’t be long before you ask why you enjoy reading so much.

This is an opportunity for you to encourage children to enjoy reading! Make them see that with reading they can travel wherever they want, be whoever they want and enter a world of endless adventure.

Ask them what they would like to be and make up a little story with what they say. Something that charms them, intrigues them and makes them laugh. So say that all this can be found in reading.

Encouraging children to enjoy reading will require a little time, perseverance and imagination. This last requirement will not be so difficult if you are already a reader. Why do not you try?

Choose the proper reading

Once you’ve sparked your child’s imagination and awakened your child’s senses, the next step in stimulating children’s reading pleasure is to choose books that are right for them. How to know which one?

  • Contents. If you’ve already probed the terrain to find out what interests your child most (adventures, being a princess, being a pirate, a prince, or a horse), choose a book related to the topic. Don’t limit your child’s tastes. If you’re a girl and you want to read about pirates, let her do it. If you’re a boy and you want to read about fairy tales, let him read it. Remember you said they could be whatever they wanted. This is the key to stimulating children’s reading pleasure.

  • Size. Once you’ve decided on a topic, go to a bookstore and look for something related. But always choose a book with little written content, large print, and lots of drawings. This will make children develop a taste for reading little by little. If you choose a book with a lot of text and few drawings, they might get bored very quickly. You have to take it one step at a time.
  • Choose active books. The first gift I got was a book that talked about a place with lots of animals. It had little text, but each page became a part of the site, as if it were a scenario. I was only 4 years old. I will never forget this book and how it helped me to love reading, letters, words and language. Give your child one of these unforgettable gifts. He’s never too small for that!
  • Forget electronics. Buy books. In this time full of technology, less and less books are being sold, as they can be obtained in different formats, paying a ridiculous price on the internet. But don’t think paper books are expensive. Book prices are falling sharply due to cyber competition. Downloading electronic books can distract your child from other subjects on the tablet. I’m one of those people who believe that a good book can be read on paper.

The benefits of encouraging children to enjoy reading are many. Among the most important is the fact that your child learns to have fun with something other than television, tablet or cell phone. It will fill his mind with knowledge and make his imagination soar.

I’ve been writing for a long time and every day someone asks me where I get so many ideas from or what course I took to be a proofreader. I always answer the same thing: “The course of reading. There is no better method to learn to write and be imaginative and open-minded than reading.”
