This internet figure has become a very popular fad these days. Fit moms are Instagram’s newest celebrities. They are mothers-to-be known for dedicating themselves to exercise a lot during pregnancy.

Physically, these women are characterized by showing muscular and almost perfect bodies. They post on social media and receive millions of followers and likes  for every post. They produce admiration, but they also generate a lot of criticism from the public.

In fact, it’s very easy to find these figures on social media. Fit moms have very specific characteristics that catch everyone’s attention.

Many people often wonder how these mothers became so well known. Here’s another feature that sets them apart:  Fit moms regularly publish their bodies during pregnancy, including exercising.

Posting photos of everyday life on Instagram has become so viral that even fitness moms-to-be have adopted the practice. This is a trend that receives millions of likes per publication, although it also generates some controversy.

Traditionally,  pregnant women are advised to rest during pregnancy and not to exert too much effort. However, nowadays, there are more and more women who do not want to give up their athletic and muscular bodies, so they continue with their fitness training during the gestation months.

These pregnant women are the fit moms, who are all the rage on social media these days. Some of the best known are Chontel Duncan, personal trainer Emily Ross or models like Sophie Guidolin or Sarah Stage.

All these fitness moms are known to have documented their pregnancy on Instagram. There, they showed off their workouts and muscular bodies during their pregnancy period. An image that many pregnant women envy.

These athletic mothers received both praise and criticism. While a large number of followers admire and applaud their lifestyle,  others strongly criticize these behaviors and claim it is unhealthy. Despite harsh criticism, they say they are healthy – and that they provide babies with the conditions necessary for good development.

In medical terms, it is said that doing a little exercise during pregnancy is extremely healthy as long as it is a moderate workout. That is,  no lifting excessive weights or going for a run.

In fact, we can exercise during pregnancy, but always in moderation. Of course, these habits and exercise frequency vary during the first, second, and third trimesters. That is, it is necessary to control and adapt the activity to the phases of the gestation period.

Undoubtedly, the benefits of these exercises for pregnant women are clear : improved blood pressure, decreased risk of urinary incontinence, favored delivery, weight control, decreased digestive discomfort and much more. It is said that births will be less problematic by exercising during pregnancy.

Regarding the cons, the following were also expressed by the experts:

  • The risk of miscarriage is greater when engaging in intense physical activity during the first trimester of pregnancy.
  • Low  level of  sugar  in the blood, for women with diabetes, due to the exercise. This is what is known as hypoglycemia.
  • Possible damage to the fetus. If the mother-to-be did not exercise before pregnancy, it is not a good idea to start exercising during pregnancy. Anyway, you can opt for sports or light activities, such as yoga.
  • Fractures and sprains. We must not forget the weakness of a woman’s joints during pregnancy.

In short, these are the new internet stars, the fit moms, who gather thousands of followers and generate great admiration in many, but, for others, it means exactly the opposite. Without a doubt, this is a subject that generates controversy. Fit moms: healthy fashion?
