Mothers Are Often More Stressed Than Fathers When It Comes To Taking Care Of The Baby

If we have to admire a quality of our spouses, it will be their ability to be less stressed than we do. That’s right, mothers are much more stressed than fathers when it comes to taking care of the baby.

The truth is, we always worry too much, want to take care of the baby more than we should, and protect him from even a tiny mosquito. Parents, in turn, are more relaxed and allow themselves a little more freedom. What goes overboard for us! And again, we get stressed.

What researches point?

A recent study indicated that mothers feel less happy than fathers in parenting. This is not to say that we are not happy being mothers, but rather that we have greater responsibility and feel more burden than fathers. Therefore, mothers are generally more stressed.

The research was conducted by scientists at the Universities of Cornell, Minnesota and the Minnesota Population Center, who focused on the time that mothers and fathers spend with their children, determining that women feel more tired, stressed and less happy.

According to studies conducted in the 2010 American Time Use Survey of  the Years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 with 12,000 parents in the United States, fathers and mothers perform different activities with their children in very different environments.

Mothers, in turn, keep an eye on the house, school, health, birthdays… which prevents them, in many cases, from being able to fully enjoy time with their children. The time they share with their parents is totally different.

Also, couple problems can arise because of this.

Dads spend more time with their babies

The study found that parents get more out of the time they spend with their children. Adding to the fact that it is good for dads to spend more time with their children, because the treatment is different from the one given by the mother.

Mothers are more stressed due to the amount of baby care tasks they have to perform.

Sociologist Ann Meier, who also participated in this research, added that:

“When mothers stay with their children, they are usually alone. When dads stay with their children, they are more likely to be with other adults close to them, who support them. This helps to understand why parents are less stressed when they are with their children.

The good news revealed by our study is that parents generally spend time with their children. However, the bad news is that mothers spend less time than fathers because they have ‘more work’ and less ‘  fun and family activities’.

It’s nice for parents to be friends with their children, taking away all their fear but inspiring them with great respect.

Maternal tasks tire much more

Insomnia is another consequence of the accumulation of tiredness by mothers. We are always the first to wake up when the baby cries, adding to our stress.

By gathering information from thousands of fathers and mothers, it was concluded that raising children is stressful.

A little help is not bad, so mothers will be less stressed

While we cannot generalize, the study highlights that these data and statistics were gathered from most households surveyed. It’s good to give moms support, even if it’s small.

The truth is, many men are starting to take enormous charge of raising babies, but that still doesn’t happen in most families.

If a balance is achieved between all the responsibilities that mothers have to bear when having a child, they will certainly have much more time to spend with their children, and thus be able to enjoy time with them, much more.

The day the father gets up at night, takes the baby to the doctor, and dedicates himself to fulfilling some maternal tasks, it will be possible for the mother to rest and have fun with her child.
